As part of the Better Future Blueprint, our enterprise-wide commitment to better the communities we live and work in, we encourage our employees to participate in volunteer activities throughout the year – whether it’s a personal cause or tms-hosted event. Today, we’re excited to share that we logged a record-setting 12,652 hours – a 14 percent increase from 2023 and a true testament to our employees’ dedication to giving back.

As we begin our work in 2025, take a look back at some of the volunteer highlights from the 2024 holiday season:

RMHC Shanghai

In December, volunteers from our Shanghai office went to their local Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) to celebrate Christmas with children and their families, bringing laughter and spreading holiday cheer.

After a brief opening by RMHC staff, Santa Claus and his reindeer appeared on stage and interacted with families and volunteers – all who joined in to sing Christmas carols. Afterward, volunteers took full advantage of their professional skills in packaging to help the children transform McDonald’s Happy Meal Boxes into fun designs like shoes, hats, and even chickens! They later utilized the folded cartons, along with other ornaments, to dress up the Christmas Tree in a fun and unique way. The tms Shanghai team truly embodied the holiday spirit.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Chicago

This past year, tms renewed our sponsorship of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago (BBBS) with over 20 new mentor matches! BBBS is a nationwide mentorship program we have partnered with since 2009 which aims to empower youth from all backgrounds to reach their full potential. Through 1:1 on-site mentorship and special events, tms employees are making a direct impact on our local community at our Chicago headquarters.

In December, the “big” and “little” matches took a trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo to admire the festive holiday lights and soak up some holiday cheer! The group had the chance to visit animals like giraffes, penguins, monkeys, and more, providing an opportunity for mentor matches to bond and learn more about one another.

RMHC London

To wrap up the year, the London team volunteered to revamp the RMHC Tooting House mural that has long been a symbol of warmth and hope for the families staying there. Through their talents in design, development, printing, and installation, they brought fresh festive cheer to the space just in time for Christmas! The updated mural serves as a vibrant reflection of the love and support that RMHC provides to families in need.

Our UK colleagues also wrapped up their final two volunteering days of 2024 by bringing Christmas joy to two additional RMHC houses! Volunteers used their creative flair to craft beautiful festive decorations, transforming the houses into warm and joyful spaces that brightened the season for families.

The Better Bankside London

The numerous trips to RMHC wasn’t all for the London team! Colleagues wrapped gifts for the Better Bankside Christmas Gift Appeal, a local charity near our London office, in support of The Robes Project and its work with the homeless in the community.

Night Ministry Chicago

tms-ers in Chicago joined hands to support The Night Ministry, an organization that provides essential services to those in need. For part one of the project, volunteers gathered at our Chicago headquarters to assemble 200 brown bag meals. Working together, the team made sandwiches, gathered snacks and water bottles, and carefully prepared each bag – taking special care to keep the food safe from germs. The following day, smaller groups of volunteers hit the streets with The Night Ministry’s Health Outreach Bus and helped distribute those meals in the Pilsen and South Shore neighborhoods.

RMHC Canada

Our Canadian teammates volunteered with RMHC for their “Mission Experience.” The team had a guided tour of the house, followed by the chance to help prepare dinner for 40 families, snacks for the hospital, and additional meal preparation. This hands-on experience allowed them to witness how RMHC supports families in their communities every day.
