As HAVI, tms, and Stanley remain dedicated to our Better Future Blueprint goals, we are working towards contributing at least 50,000 hours of volunteering every year to strengthen our local communities. On top of this, we pledge to donate 1% of the prior year’s pre-tax income to charitable organizations annually.

In London, Duisburg, Chicago, and Hong Kong our teams have volunteered over seven thousand hours in support of their local community with charities such as Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), Blackfriars Settlement, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and many more.  Check out a full recap below.

tms London Velo Vibe raises money for MediCinema Charity

Velo Vibe is a group of tms colleagues who share a love of cycling, and on the 10th of September, they completed a 55-mile ride from London to Brighton in honor of the charity MediCinema. They aim to give NHS patients and their families a movie-night experience by building state of the art cinemas in hospitals and places of care. Velo Vibe has raised over £2,400 for the charity so far!

tms has been a proud partner of the Seattle-based community organisation Pike Place Market Foundation for over 20 years. The Foundation’s initiatives and charity events aim to raise funds for housing, healthcare, childcare and food for the local community. This year we supported its annual dining extravaganza, The Sunset Supper, that took place on Friday August 18th. Thanks to 1,700 guests, 240 volunteers, and 22 sponsors – $632,684 was raised for the Pike Place Market Foundation! Together, we are helping to nurture a thriving Market community.

tms Interns donate to RMHC Chicago

Each year, our North America summer interns partake in a volunteer day as part of their program. This year,  tms and HAVI interns participated in a toiletry donation drive on behalf of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Chicago. The drive was led by tms Sustainability Intern Kaelan Lestock and was open to all members of HAVI and tms to donate travel-sized items, which the interns then made into toiletry kits. The program was a huge success — with 54 kits and over 500 items successfully donated, we exceeded our original goal! The interns also contributed 24 hours of volunteer time towards our yearly 50,000 hour goal.

tms and HAVI volunteer at Greater Chicago Food Depository

Mark Landolt, President of tms, and Allison Radecki, Chief Information Officer at HAVI, hosted a volunteer event on July 28th at The Greater Chicago Food Depository. Chicago’s largest food bank, started with one purpose — to nourish people at risk of hunger.

“I’m thrilled that HAVI supports us in our volunteer efforts, which also has the added benefit of doing something good and giving us the opportunity to meet people from other teams. For me, it’s important to try and make a difference in my community so I was excited to participate in Chicago, and it made for a great workout first thing on a Friday morning,” said Allison.

tms gives back at Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare center

On June 29th, a few tms-ers spent their morning volunteering with Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare. The center is a home to 60 greyhounds who are sent to the welfare home after their racing days are over. The independent charity takes daily care of the retired dogs and advocates in the search for their new homes. In an effort organized by Emma Formstone, Senior Product Manager, the group spent time walking, feeding, and playing with the dogs on the very hot summer day.

tms volunteers at RMHC Essen summer party

A dedicated team of tms and HAVI volunteers made a splash at the RMHC Essen, summer party. RMHC Essen, like other RMHC locations around the globe, provides a home-away-from home and support for families and children facing serious illness. The BBQ was a chance for children and families to forget their worries for a little while and enjoy a carefree day of fun and connection.

The event included games, face-painting, and heart-warming moments facilitated by our volunteers. A few lucky attendees even got to climb inside and pretend to drive a full-size HAVI truck — their smiles said it all! Every element of the party was carefully curated to create an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Baking, gardening, and more at RMHC London

On Thursday, May 25th, a team of 13 volunteers from HAVI and the tms London office helped with baking, gardening, and painting at RMHC’s Evelina House in Lambeth. They split into three groups: the first baked sausage rolls, cheesy pinwheels, lemon drizzle fingers, and massive chocolate chip cookies for families at the house, while the second and third got to work in the garden. In just five hours we managed to weed; plant strawberries, tomatoes, and potatoes; and relocate and paint the planters and playhouse.

Over 20 tms employees in Seattle helped clean up their coastline. They picked up garbage, including harmful plastics that would have otherwise ended up in local parks and the sound. This effort is critical before the salmon migration season starts. The team cleared over 116 pounds of trash!
