Brooke White, tms’ Product Experience Manager, spoke with Built In to share her tips on how to minimize chaos as a Project Manager in the article, “2 Chicago Product Managers Share Their Secret to Leading a Successful Team.”

Brooke explained that the key to leading a successful team as a project manager is to leverage your toolkit to increase efficiency and organization – a “toolkit” can be defined as a blend of personal skills, external programs, and frameworks which may evolve over time.

Minimizing chaos and maintaining efficiency often comes down to using tools strategically and intentionally. At tms, working across several diverse clients means managing a variety of web and app-based projects. While each project is unique, certain tools consistently add value regardless of the end product.

Brooke dove into more specific tips to help leaders manage projects – most notably, to ensure clear communication from the start:

“One tip I would share with a new product manager trying to minimize chaos is to prioritize clear communication and alignment from the start. Chaos often stems from misaligned expectations, unclear goals or breakdowns in communication. To combat this, start every project with a well-defined plan: outline objectives, establish priorities and clarify team roles.”
